I have returned to Tehachapi after an absence of 7 years. I'm really happy to be back. I feel very much at home here. You can find my work on Exhibit at Frame of Mind. I look forward to connecting with old and new friends here!
Education: Graduate of the American Academy of Art Chicago Ill.
Attended Colorado State University, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Valley College SFV. Burbank Creative Arts Center.
Carole Joyce grew up in Denver,Colorado. She worked for many years at the Los Angeles Times and raised a family in the San Fernando Valley. She has displayed her artwork at many California festivals, since 1982. She has also exhibited in national trade shows.
She is mainly a figurative, and portrait artist, but she also loves working in a non-representational format using the collage method.
A series of figurative paintings circ '06m called “Bliss”, show a variety of Angels that touch and heal the spirit of the viewer, as the artist was touched as she painted them. They are more graphic than painterly, 3 dimensionality and rays of shining light dominate the canvas.
For relaxation she likes experimenting with digital art, and making hand made greeting cards. “For the past 7 years I have been sharing my knowledge and abilities with students through art instruction. I taught drawing and sculpture at Carden private school in Tehachapi California.
From 2002 2005 I taught in Bakersfield public schools through the Artist in Residency program sponsored by the Kern Arts Council, and participated in their annual fund raising events.”
Carole relocated to the Fontana area of California area in April 2005.
She became a member of the Fontana Art Association and offered instruction in Basic Art, Cartooning, Still Life, and Polymer Clay modeling/sculpting. These classes were held at the Art Depot, and the Don Day Center. Enrollment was through the Community Services Department of Fontana.
During the Spring and Summer of 2008, she gave Art instructions at he Hawthorne Center, in Bloomington Ca. This was a very rewarding experience for her.
On June 6, she was one of 8 judges for the final phase of the 2008 National Veterans Art Competition. Judging 156 top ranking pieces of art in 52 categories, created by veterans throughout the country. The National Veterans Creative Arts Program gave her a broad sense of current art in America through the eyes of our countries veterans.
